Amnesty International and Prophets strike a sour note
In 2014, Saudi Arabian blogger Raif Badawi was sentenced to 10 years in prison, 1000 lashes and a hefty fine. He was punished for criticising the government and allegedly insulting Islam.
On January 9th, 2015, Raif received the first fifty lashes. Fortunately, international outcry prevented Saudi-Arabia from carrying out the next 950 strokes.
June 16th, 2020, marks 8 years in prison for Raif Badawi. An occasion Amnesty International didn't want to let slip by unnoticed. Amnesty International demands his release.
Prophets adds impact to this symbolic date. In a captivating video Triggerfinger drummer Mario Goossens executes exactly a 1000 strokes.
The video doesn't leave a trace of doubt: those strokes hit hard. Now, it's time for Raif's release. Time for action. Take a stand on www.amnesty-international.be
(The victim in the video isn't Raif Badawi)
